Digital worlds international design competition -

Take part in the digital worlds international design competition for year 11 and 12 students from secondary schools in Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, China, Korea, Qatar and UAE.

Great games, films and animations all begin with 1 thing: powerful ideas. From compelling stories and unforgettable characters to imaginative worlds and concept design. We want to see what you can create.

Entries for the competition open on 1 September 2026 and close on 1 November 2026 at 3pm New Zealand time.

Competition brief

  • Write a 300 word maximum description of your digital world explaining its history, culture, inhabitants, ecosystem and more.
  • Submit a hero image of your world. 300dpi suitable for judging and display online (please label the image with your first and last name)
  • Submit an optional supplementary A3 page of images and explanatory notes of detailed features of your world.

Entry requirements

  • Your hero image can be:
    • Digital images - illustration
    • Photo or scan of a drawing(s) in pencil, pen, crayon, paint or any other medium you prefer
    • Photo of sculpture(s)
  • You can submit up to 1 A3 page (PDF or JPEG format).
  • You must also include a short, written description (300 words maximum) explaining what your world is like (PDF format).
  • This competition is for students in their final 2 years of secondary school in Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, China, Korea, Qatar or UAE.
