New Zealand Graphics and Technology Teachers Association (NZGTTA) Award
Judges for NZGTTA will not be from schools that have any participating students in the competition. Judges' decisions will be final and no communication will be entered into with any entrants. NZGTTA reserve the right to use the work of entrants for publicity, teaching and teacher professional development purposes on their website, slideshows and associated materials. The NZGTTA prize money will be paid directly into the winner's bank account.
Massey University Award
The $5,000 scholarship for industrial design will be awarded to an entry in which students have indicated they are interested in studying industrial design at Massey University in Wellington and intend to enrol in the Bachelor of Design, majoring in Industrial Design, in 2027. The award recipient will be selected by industrial design staff members, Jason Mitchell, Rodney Adank and Emma Fox.
The $5,000 cash prize will be paid directly to the student in 2027 after the withdrawal date for their qualification passes in their first semester of study. Judges will select a recipient in line with the wishes of Peter and Doris Macdonald, who created this scholarship to inspire young people to shape the future of New Zealand through industrial design.
Peter Macdonald believed strong design wasn’t just about looks — it played a powerful role in a country’s success, identity and economy. The judges will be looking for strong ideas where the recipient has the potential to be a highly successful industrial design student who will contribute meaningfully to Aotearoa's future.
A runner-up will be selected in case the original recipient does not enrol or meet the enrolment criteria for the Bachelor of Design. The runner-up will be contacted directly and awarded the scholarship if this occurs.
